High Plains Paso Fino Horse Association

Youth Foundation

JANUARY, 2005

High Plains Paso Fino Horse Association has created and dedicated a sum of money to be invested and used to support a Youth Foundation that will sponsor, support, and provide monies to the development of Youth Equestrian Education, Socialization and continuing Education.

A sum approved by the region in its annual budget shall be awarded each year.  In addition the Youth members of the Youth Foundation and High Plains will sponsor moneymaking activities that may be used to support annual expenses. 

Members of the Youth Foundation will be all those family and/or individual members under 18 years of age or younger and who are in good standing with High Plains.  Those members will be identified during the membership drive and will receive mailings specific to the Youth Foundation.  In addition during the Membership Meeting, the Youth Foundation will also have their annual meeting to determine officers of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer.  Those individuals will serve as the Executive Committee along with the Youth Foundation sponsor and the Past President of High Plains. The Executive Committee will plan events, fund raisers and develop the annual budget to be approved by High Plains.  There shall be three signatures on all checks including the Youth Foundation Treasurer, Youth Sponsor, and the Treasurer of High Plains.

Activities may include:

v      Education activities: Hippology, youth judging,

v      Fun activities/Education: Horse Camp, Mundial sponsor (every two years)

v      End of year awards: Cash awards for 3 high point youth.  Top points in Riding classes (2 High Plains Shows); Hippology; youth judging.

v      Fund Raising: Auction of mare bellies, Jobs at shows that may include managing bedding, cleaning stalls for a fee, washing horses, etc.

v      Continuing education: Annual College/training scholarships.

Scholarship recipients shall be selected by a committee of three (3) members to be appointed by the President of the region. This committee consists of the following:  Youth Foundation Sponsor; Youth Foundation President; President of High Plains; Past President of High Plains.  Additional members may be appointed.           

The High Plains Paso Fino Horse Association is authorized and empowered to accept gifts and bequests from any person or organization to increase the Youth Foundation to assist with funding Youth Activities and the Scholarship Fund.
